This year we ran 3 weeks for ages 8-12, and 3 for ages 13-16. With a majority of the attending campers being between the ages of 8-12 we will look to make the majority of the 2025 summer camp be focused on ages 8-12.

OUR GREAT LAKES GOALS
In 2024, we set out to improve social skills and foster a sense of belonging and friendship among our campers.
Campers mentioned "making friends" or "playing with new people" 18 times in their final presentations, highlighting the strong social connections formed during the program.
"I feel like another reason I looked forward to coming here was because of the people here and not just the staff the little kids too (yes even the kind of annoying ones) but I felt like we all just had fun." - E. age 14
CREATIVITY THROUGH CODING: A MINECRAFT MOD
Campers were tasked with creating their own Minecraft mod, sparking their creativity and imagination as they applied what they learned from coding.
Coding was led by RIT Alumni Kent Reese, (Game Design) and assisted by RIT undergrad, Jay Horsfall (New Media)
VIDEO EDITING, A MODERN SKILL
Throughout the week, campers were tasked with playing new and different games to record videos for.
By the end of the week, they would have edited the footage from hours of game play down to just a few entertaining minutes, adding transitions, animations, and subtitles to create a complete video.
COMPETING AS A TEAM
Throughout the week, we had campers compete against one another and as teams against their peers or camp counselors.
The goal was to build communication skills and demonstrate how teamwork can lead to more victory royales!
Additional activities included learning skills for esports broadcast production and live-streaming.
BUILDING CONFIDENCE & PUBLIC SPEAKING
Finally, we tasked each camper was asked to make a slideshow to share what they liked, learned, and would want to see the next time they visit the GLG Lounge. The goal of the presentation was to teach public speaking skills and help them realize they can be proud of what they accomplished during their summer camp experience.
