BuildIT - The IT Summer Camp!

A collaborative summer camp with Shift2 and GLG! AUGUST 24-28TH ONLY 7 SPOTS AVAILABLE

Shift2 and Great Lakes Gaming have teamed up to offer this summer’s most immersive and tech-focused summer camp. BuildIT is sure to be an experience like no other, where campers learn the ins and outs of technology, and finish the camp out by building their own computer that they get to take home.

BuildIT is hosted at the state-of-the-art Great Lakes Gaming venue, a private video game lounge in the heart of downtown Rochester, for kids ages 13–18. Camp is held Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm. See below for more details.

Networking 101

Campers will:

Ever wonder why your WiFi goes out? Let us teach your kids how to troubleshoot! Our campers learn the basics of networking, testing and optimizing connections, and will leave proud to be your family’s in-house IT department.

Your Digital Footprint

Take the right steps

We’ll teach our campers how to take the right steps towards bettering their screen health. We’ll learn about the importance of privacy and security settings on our devices, help our campers be more conscious of their screen time, and teach them how to find a healthy balance between online and offline activities.

Bit By Bit!

Now our campers are ready to take technology into their own hands! Using traditional hand-tools and screwdrivers, campers will deconstruct older desktops and laptops for usable parts to build their own computer. Kids will learn how to recycle old technology, test components for usability, and how to maintain their tech. At the end of the build, each camper will be able to take home the computer or laptop they’ve built.

  • Activities: 9:30-12 Noon

  • Lunch: 12-1:00PM, Food provided by Bite Rochester

  • Activities: 1-4:00PM

  • Pick Up: 4:00PM (Please be prompt, if you need an extension call 585 604 9626)

  • Address is 100 S. Clinton Ave, BUT the entrance & parking loop is off EAST BROAD STREET
